Youth Engagement Support Staff
Who are we?
The Youth Advocacy Training Institute (YATI) is a program of the Ontario Lung Association. YATI provides training and resources to youth and adults who work with youth to support health promotion, advocacy and tobacco prevention. The Job Opportunity:
YATI is hiring two (2) students between the ages of 16 and 24 to work with the team as Youth Engagement Support Staff (YESS) and contribute to the YATI program during the months of July through August, 2015.
Working in The Lung Association Provincial Office, the YESS's will be supported by the YATI team as they work on various projects that meet the needs of YATI and support the skillset and expertise of each YESS. Potential projects will fall under the following categories:
Curriculum and Resource Development/Review
- review existing curriculum and provide feedback for improvement
- assist in the development of new curriculum
- research and develop information for pamphlets, fact sheets and website
- create interactive games and activities
Video Making
- develop innovative videos/animated movies
- edit videos with various software
Event Planning
YATI will be hosting its annual youth volunteer retreat. Support Staff may:
- assist in coordinating and event planning materials
- assist in developing retreat programming
- facilitate activities during the retreat
- provide peer support for retreat participants
Training
- assist/lead facilitation of YATI trainings (some accompanied travel within the province may be required)
- represent YATI at community/youth events
- assist in the promotion of the YATI program amongst youth-serving organizations and/or youth groups
Qualifications:
- must be between the ages of 16 and 24
- must have a strong understanding of and interest in health promotion and tobacco prevention
- bilinqualism is an asset
